Support Sustainable Energy Unit of Bahrain in implementing renewable energy and energy efficiency initiatives.

Expert, National Renewable Energy Action Plan, UNDP Bahrain, Sustainable Energy Unit

Duration: November 2015–December 2016
Developed a National Renewable Energy Action Plan for Bahrain with indication of renewable energy targets, policies, projects, estimation of levelized cost of electricity, business models, institutional arrangement, and implementation schemes. Co-designed a National Energy Efficiency Action Plan for Bahrain, including energy efficiency policies and measures and estimation of high level budget requirements.

Project Manager, Arab Future Energy Index (AFEX), Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE)

Duration: June 2012–November 2015
Developed AFEX, a policy assessment and benchmarking tool that provides a comprehensive assessment of the current state of renewable energy and energy efficiency development in the Arab region. Countries are ranked under more than 30 indicators pertaining to key energy market aspects including energy pricing, strategies, policies, incentive mechanisms, institutions and investments.

Project Manager, World Bank Study: “MENA – Delivery Mechanisms and Institutions to Realize Energy Efficiency Potential,” RCREEE

Duration: June 2012–November 2015
Undertook gap analysis of MENA countries to identify institutional, policy, regulatory, pricing, financing, communication and awareness raising barriers and indicators to scaling-up energy efficiency. Estimated energy demand projections for 2020 and 2025; identified areas with the greatest energy efficiency potential; and identified priority sectors for tapping energy efficiency potential.
